Theatre is for me, one of the most intimate and universal forms of self-discovery and growth. It both allows and forces oneself for to search deep within oneself for empathy with a variety of people and situations whether infallibly different or strikingly close to home. As a theatre practitioner, I firmly believe in our duty to both please and teach. I delight in sharing stories with audiences and allowing them to feel the healing power of empathy and catharsis vicariously through performance.
I gravitate towards the eccentric, whimsical and absurd, but find it just as exhilarating to work on naturalistic characters where you can bare yourself and simply be. Even when you’re not challenging options of the status quo or exploring tragic human experiences, it can be wonderful to just share the warmth and joy of comedic performances. I feel empowered to be able to touch peoples’ lives through theatre.
