Joshua Barrett is a Seattle based actor, playwright, and puppeteer originally from Tulsa, OK. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts- Acting at Texas Tech University.
He has recently appeared as Rod in Texas Tech's production of Avenue Q, earning and Irene Ryan nomination, as well as Mark in Altar Boyz at Lubbock Community Theatre. He recently debuted The Happy Puppet Fun Hour presents: Lady Puffmuffin and the Failed Marriage--a self-written, crafted, and directed puppet extravaganza. Other stage credits proudly to his name include Bud Frump in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Giuliano in Big Love,Barrel in Urinetown: the Musical and Millet in Fuddy Meers. Other Texas Tech mainstage credits include Big Love, Urinetown: The Musical and Our Town. He received an Irene Ryan nomination for the role of Millet/Hinky Binky--for which he also earned an Irene Ryan nomination--all at Texas Tech University.
He has training in Meisner, Gister, and Suzuki methods, Viewpoints, Lessac Vocal training, Margolis Method, and he has studied devised theatre with Rich Brown and Blessed Unrest.
He has been trained in Tap Dancing, Modern, and Jazz dancing.
He is also an active member of Alpha Psi Omega, the national Theatre Honor Society.
